Carotid Atherosclerosis in Predicting Coronary Artery Disease

چکیده

Objective: This meta-analysis aims to compare the relationship between phenotypic manifestation of coronary and carotid atherosclerosis using available imaging techniques. Approach Results: We searched all electronic databases until October 2020 for studies which reported atherosclerosis. The primary end point was correlation intima-media thickness (CIMT) plaque features (calcification lipid-rich necrotic core) with artery disease (CAD). Secondary points included pathology that predicts CAD. Eighty-nine papers 22 683 patients comparing were in analysis. CIMT increased linearly severity CAD irrespective its significance ( P <0.001), mono versus 2 vessel =0.003), multivessel <0.001). Carotid presence calcification less, core highly prevalent nonsignificant significant <0.001, =0.03, respectively). Moderate found r =0.60, <0.001) number diseased vessels =0.49, There a moderate stenosis =0.53, =0.61, ≥1.0 mm summary sensitivity 77% specificity 72% respective values 80% 67% best predictors CAD, technique used diagnosis. Conclusions: These results support concept affects both systems, although not always identical manner. findings highlight beneficial examination arteries whenever is suspected.

Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio for Risk Assessment in Coronary Artery Disease and Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis

Two decades ago, there was an optimistic prediction that the treatment of dyslipidemia and hypertension would eliminate coronary artery disease (CAD) by the 20th century. However , cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is now the greatest single contributor (nearly one-third) to global mortality and, unfortunately , CAD still accounts for the largest proportion of CVD. 1) Furthermore, CVD is expected t...

Association of Carotid Artery Parameters of Atherosclerosis in Coronary Artery Disease

BACKGROUND Although carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) is the most commonly used ultrasonic measurement of atherosclerosis, plaque burden can be also assessed by ultrasound (US). We investigated the relationship between IMT, total plaque area (TPA) and total plaque volume (TPV) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). METHODS One hundred and seven patients with suspected CAD and caro...

The effect of turbulence model on predicting the development and progression of coronary artery atherosclerosis

A severe case of stenosis in coronary arteries results in turbulence in the blood flow which may lead to the formation or progression of atherosclerosis. This study investigated the turbulent blood flow in a coronary artery with rigid walls, as well as 80% single and double stenoses on blood flow. A finite element-based software package, ADINA 8.8, was employed to model the blood flow. The hemo...
